Daily Lunch

Stewpot started with this noon meal, and it's still the focus of our day and our philosophy: feeding people both physically and spiritually. Any and all are welcome to come together as one community over a nourishing meal 365 days a year. More than 225 people are fed each weekday, and 175 on Saturdays and Sundays. Our executive chef prepares the meals during the week, while volunteer groups provide the weekend meals.

Meals on Wheels

Each weekday, volunteers make and deliver plate lunches to more than 50 elderly, ill, and disabled people who cannot make it to lunch at Stewpot. For some recipients, these visits provide their only hot meal – and also their only human contact of the day.

Facts

  • The Meals on Wheels program was started by two community members who knew there were needy people in the neighborhoods surrounding Stewpot who were physically unable to come to Stewpot for the noon meal.
  • This program is still run by the two men who birthed it, Mr. John Lewis and Mr. Robert Downs.

Volunteering

Volunteers work in teams to deliver the meals to members of the community. If you are interested in participating in this ministry of love, contact Tara Lindsey at tlindsey@stewpot.org or 601.353.2759.
